We receive many questions regarding digital work flow and AgaveSPS 5.0. When using the AgaveSPS graphic import utility, there is not much to it. Following is a brief step-wise description. Note that this is one of several available methods for linking your digital images in Agave.

1. The photographer downloads the photos from the camera, preps and saves them. By prepping, we mean creating a submission ready tiff file that contains IPTC caption, keyword, copyright data.

2. Once the files are prepped, open the Agave import from graphic files utility, select the source folder where your graphics are saved, a destination folder (optional -- if you want to move them), a subject code and the click the Execute pushbutton. For each image, a Fotofile label record is created and populated from IPTC information and the image location is logged into a path database. Optionally, Agave will generate and store medium-res (web page size) jpegs and thumbnails. Raw files such as NEF and CR2 can be included in the import. Once the images are imported, they are fully searchable and immediately available for submission generation, invoicing, etc.

AgaveSPS is not intended as a replacement for your favorite image processing software. While it has the tools to internally manage IPTC data and generate jpegs and thumbnails, its main purpose is to provide a database style management tool for licensing, inventory, submission and sales history or your photographs.
